October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Today, there are nearly 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. Early detection can significantly improve the survival rate including monthly self-exams, and regular clinical exams and mammograms.
From 1989 to 2016, breast cancer death rates declined 40% (American Cancer Society)

IngenioRx is becoming CarelonRx

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced their Pharmacy Benefit Manager, IngenioRx, is joining their family of companies.
Starting January 1, 2023, IngenioRx will change it's name to CarelonRx. Members should expect no disruption to their benefit, coverage and medication fills during this transition.

Prescription Data Collection (RxDC) - What this means to clients

More transparency in the world of prescription drug prices is on it's way.
Under Section 204 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), insurance companies and employer based health plans must submit information about prescription drug and health care spending.
This information will help identify major drivers of increases in prescription drug and health care spending, understand how prescription drug rebates impact premiums and out-of-pocket costs, and promote transparency in prescription drug pricing.

Organizational Announcement

Lina Kama joins the RxConnection team as a Audit Analyst. In this role, Lina ensures the PBM is delivering on their contractual obligations.
Lina graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. Lina has 15 years of Pharmacy and PBM experience. She was previously employed by Medimpact as a Pharmacy Claims Auditor.

Team Building Onsite - Account Management

RxConnection's Account Management team met in Columbus, OH for their annual on-site meeting.
Topics of discussion included client satisfaction, process improvement and future initiatives.
Team building and bonding is essential as the department has continued to grow with 6 new additions in 2022.
