FDA Approves $3.5M Drug Used for Hemophilia B
There is a new “most expensive drug” on the market in the US. On November 22, 2022, Hemgenix was granted FDA approval for the treatment of adults with Hemophilia B.
The gene therapy manufactured by CSL Behring LLC has a projected cost of $3.5 million per treatment, outpacing the previous most expensive drug – Zolgensma, which is used to treat spinal muscular atrophy – by 67 percent.
US Drug Supplies: High Demand for Children’s Medications
Drug shortages are once again plaguing consumers in the U.S.
Several high-profile prescription drugs, including the children’s antibiotic Amoxicillin, the ADHD treatment Adderall, as well as over-the-counter children’s medicines (acetaminophen and ibuprofen) are among the most recent drugs that parents are struggling to find.
Many of the raw ingredients that go into these drugs come from just two countries – China and India.
“Tripledemic” Threat Looms Over Holidays
“Tripledemic” Threat Looms Over Holidays
After two difficult Covid winters, the masks have come off and the current season of respiratory sickness already rivals some of the worst cold and flu seasons on record.
Public health officials are warning that a “tripledemic” of Covid-19, FLU, and R.S.V. would strain an already stressed healthcare system.
Annual Leadership Meeting Sets the Tone for 2023
Annual Leadership Meeting Sets the Tone for 2023
In November, RxConnection held their annual leadership meeting in Louisville, KY. Along with corporate updates and financials, each department had an opportunity to present on projects completed during the year and enhancements slated for 2023.
The main focus for 2023 will be centered around updates to the current pharmacy performance reporting. The reporting enhancements will take a deeper dive into each client’s utilization to provide more meaningful metrics on pharmacy spend.
The leadership team also found time for some bonding with an awesome bourbon trail tour to wrap up the trip.
